Information for Graduate Research Students

The 2008 MERIT Symposium: Melbourne Engineering Graduates look to the Future, being held on Thursday October 2, will show case the cutting edge research being undertaken by our Graduate Research Students.

Please provide a short abstract of 1-2 paragraphs with an illustration, which describes in plain English the focus of your PhD. Abstracts should not exceed 300 words in length. An abstract template is available here. These are to be accompanied by a poster of your work.

Poster templates are available by Theme:

Posters and abstracts are to be sent to Jennifer Thomas in the Research Unit by no later than Monday September 8.

Poster presentation will be competitive and a selection panel will convened in each of the four research themes of MERIT to select the top 10-15 posters in each theme.

Prizes of $3,000 to attend and present at a conference will be awarded on the day for Best Poster and Best Presentation and prizes to the value of $500 are being awarded for Innovative Health-related Research and Commercialisation Potential.

All abstracts received with poster submissions will be published in a glossy MERIT Graduate Research Symposium book, regardless of whether they are selected for presentation at the Symposium.
